WWR is making our first watch – let’s make a chrono!

You’re one among our best-dressed, good-looking readers. You have sturdy opinions about what appears to be like good, what doesn’t, and what you’ll put on. You seem like 1,000,000 bucks, even when your watch doesn’t value 1,000,000. We’re making a watch for you.

We’ve developed our watch tastes for the previous 18 years (WWR, based 2004), and have stored up telling you when one thing’s good, or not. Now we’re making a watch, and want you to inform us you’re on board for one.

What we’re making

Our first watch isn’t a easy 3-hander. Instead, we’re going huge, and making a mechanical chronograph. In the previous days, your etiquette guide would say, “As to your watch, the plainer the higher – save your chunky chronometer with the push buttons and dials in your weekend sporting actions!”

I personally imagine that is incorrect. A chronograph will be an on a regular basis watch, and even match essentially the most dressy of events. It’s not only for the day on the yacht, or sizzling laps on monitor days.

This is a mockup, within the case we’ll use

What we’re making is an ST19-based 41mm chronograph. The palms can be stick palms. It ought to look equally at house on leather-based or cloth straps. The tachymetre scale goes to be flat, not angled, for higher readability.

Why us?

I’ve designed over 30 totally different dials for watches, starting from one-off mod tasks to small manufacturing runs for teams. One of the issues I’m deeply centered on when making a dial is the typography. If the fonts aren’t proper, it makes my eye twitch.

What we’d like from you

Commitment. We want 25-30 of you to commit to buying a watch at about $450 USD. We’re not utilizing this as a money-making train, there’s not quite a lot of revenue in-built to that quantity. This is about making an attempt to show we will make a WWR watch, making an fascinating mechanical one with beauty for our greatest readers. This doesn’t occur with out dedication from you.

Feedback. I drew this dial. I feel it’s good. I agree it’s form of monochromatic, and lacks racer colours, yacht-timing minute options, or different scales like telemeter, pulsations, asthomometer, and so forth. The radial subdials are a function which were used on different famed watches, just like the Alaska III Speedmaster, however are much less cramped right here. Let me know what you assume, and in the event you’re in – let’s make a chrono!
